An example of a siciliana rhythm. The siciliana has a lilting rhythm characterized by dotted notes, resembling a slow jig or tarantella, and often in a minor key. It has a loose association with Sicily, evoking pastoral moods in vocal and instrumental music alike.
The Sinfonia Concertante is an 18th Century musical form which incorporates a mixture of symphony and concerto genres. Instruments can be heard performing solo lines, but they still discernibly remain a part of the total ensemble. This is opposed to a Concerto form where a soloist is prominent throughout the entire composition.
