Classical music

Recording of my cousin playing the song "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven on the piano. Not a huge fan of classical music, but one of my favorite ever pieces by Beethoven. A very soothing song that I like to listen to while I do homework and while I relax. Very smooth and easy to listen to for any occasion.

In 18c, most of the music was composed for Church and Dancing which to coordinator the dancer and singer. During that time, music always needs to feel Inner pulse between every beat which requires the style of music playing. Sound release was the character for this typical music style, which means not fully legato between the long notes that creates a rest between every beat.

Mordent is a music ornament which indicating that the note should play an alternation between written note and single note above or below in fast tempo. In 18c, mordent had two different types of mordent, pralltriller which indicate the mordent notes start below the written notes and Schneller which start from above the written notes.

Trill is a musical ornament consisting of a fast alternation between two notes, provides rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic interest. In18c, the details of trill of how to play the trill are up to the performer which every performer has to follow the ornaments rules from composer during the performances. In general, trills in this era are beginning on the note above written note, often producing the effect of a harmonic suspension which resolves to the principal note.

Serenades are typically calm, light music. In this clip,the solo flute begins a simple sweet phrase, with the solo cello answering back, and functions as a secondary melody. A gentle pizzicato accompaniment pulsing through, the conversation between the solo cello and flute continues until 8 measures later, the cello takes over, as the primary melody, filled with such tenderness and delight, melting into the night.

This clip presents a melodic interchange between solo brass (horn and trombone) and the violins, while other voices join force establish harmony, and rhythmically push forward. It also shows the musical contrast between the solos and tutti.

A half cadence is a musical gesture which can begin with any chord, in this case the tonic chord of D Major, and ends on the dominant chord, A Major (I-V). Usually the half cadence calls for a continuation of the piece, due to its sounding incomplete or unfinished. The first movement of Carlos Seixas' Overture in D Major ends with a half cadence, continuing into the second movement in D minor. This is a rare occurrence, as a half cadence usually happens in the exposition of a sonata form, or at the end of the first part of a binary form.

In the galant and classical periods, taste moved away from the layered polyphony of the Baroque period toward homophony, which the melody is played over a subordinate harmony. In this clip, a dreamy lyrical melody played by a solo cello float on top, while a string quartet supports homophonically.

An example of how horns were utilized in 18th century sinfonias. Composers in Vienna, Dresden, and other German cities had used horns in their orchestras for some time, and introduced them to Italian instrumental music after the War of Spanish Succession, when Naples came under the power of Austria.

This recording demonstrates a horn solo with lip trills. Rare was it for the horn to be featured so prominently in an 18th- century composition and rarer still were soloists of the horn required to perform extended technical demands such as the lip trills in Michael Haydn's "Serenade in D Major". 18th-Century Vienna saw composers experimenting with the incorporation of various wind instruments into their compositions which contributed to the development of greater instrumental technique and a new range and variance of instrumental color.
