Sound recording of a lamping being turned on and off. The light requires two turns to be activated and another two turns to be deactivated. The lamp is an antique, that was purchased at a thrift store in Newport News, Virginia, so the gears in the turn key has a sort of resonating echo that louder sound than a lot of newer lamps. This sound was recorded in a studio apartment and there was a small electric hum of the refrigerator in the background.

The recording highlights the challenges of language barriers in the aural architecture of the space. The recording was taken around 12 pm in the hallway between classes in the Klaus building, which is why other students can be heard conversing in the background. Recorded with an iPhone 6 using the built-in microphone and voice memo application.
