'L' Sounds
This audio recording is of the large ensemble Cantata Singers rehearsal on October 2nd, 2015. We were rehearsing Johan Sebastian Bach's Magnificat in D Major for an upcoming performance with the orchestra (another Large Ensemble) taking place in December. In this snippet of our rehearsal, we sang through the phrase. In Anna Carolina's recording, our instructor went back and worked out the kinks in this particular section. Recording of the last call at a friendly neighborhood pub frequented by young adults. This is the last opportunity for patrons to order drinks from bartenders. Proprietors switch dim lighting to bright and turn off music and televised sports or other programming in an effort to make the establishment's atmosphere less appealing to patrons, who are thus encouraged to clear out of the pub.

Sound recording of my father pushing a lawnmower across the front grass lawn of our house on a warm spring day. The sound of the engine of the lawnmower is the overpowering noise, but the subdued sounds include the occasional crunch of grass, leaves, and/or sticks as the blades grind them into small pieces. At around 23 seconds in, the sound of the lawnmower being turned around on the concrete to be pushed the other way can be heard. Recorded on an iPhone 7 Plus.
Sound recording of a leaf blower on the beginning section of the Proctor Creek Greenway, recorded with Sony PCM-M10 recorder and Electro-Voice RE50B omnidirectional dynamic microphone. This blower's nearly overwhelmingly loud rumble acts a deterrence to visitors and negatively affects the Greenway's welcoming culture.

Legato describes a gentle articulation where notes are smoothly connected to the notes on either side. This is in contrast to other articulations like staccato where the notes are short and detached from one another. This legato passage is found in the sinfonia for La Villana Riconosciuta by Domenico Cimarosa (1749-1801), in the first movement, Allegro Con Spirito. The legato section begins about four seconds into this recording.
