This sound was captured from the elevator in the lobby of Duke Children’s Hospital. The clip includes the sounds of elevator buttons being pressed, the bell when the elevator arrives, the doors opening and closing, and the whirring of the cables as the elevator accelerates upwards. Patients and caregivers use this elevator every day. This is a recording of myself taking an elevator ride from the second floor of the 8th Street South Dorms to the first floor. This recording was taken at 8:15p.m. on a Tuesday night. No one else was on the elevator. This recording was taken on an IPhone 8+.
This recording details the above and under water soundscapes on an afternoon at a relatively calm spot at Ellerbee Creek in North Carolina. Hydrophones were used to obtain the underwater soundscape, which sounds like water softly bubbling underneath. This nicely complements the sound of bird calls and other wildlife that can be heard above the surface.
