Sound recording of a pot of boiling water on an electric kitchen stove. Listeners can hear the sound of bubbles rising and bursting as well as the energetic movement of water within the pot. The pot was half full of water and the stove was on high heat. Recorded using a Tascam DR-40. 

This is a sound recording of a borscht soup (a beet soup frequently consumed in the Slavic countries) being cooked with the lid off. The stove was on the high heat. You can hear the sound of the metal pan and stove in the background. It was recorded with a Zoom H4N recorder.

The process of unpacking and cutting chicken breasts is captured. The recording begins with the sounds of water running caused by a person washing their hands before cutting the chicken. Sounds that follow are the sound of the wrapping paper being unwrapped and the sound of the knife cutting through the chicken breasts. The sound was recorded in the kitchen of a Furman University student at the off-campus housing.

I took a little part of everyday life and added it to the Sonic Dictionary. This is the sound of butter being freshly tossed onto a hot stove in a red skillet. Could you tell it was butter or does it sound like something else to you?
