Recording of a pair of two baroque timpani. Primarily used in the Eighteenth century and Nineteenth century, these drums consists of copper bowls with calfskin heads stretched across them, tightened and tuned by lugs and played with wooden mallets. The sizes of these timpani are 23" and 26" in diameter. Hand tuned with the help of a tuning key, the pitches of these drums are C3 and G2.

The metal drain stopper is unscrewed and then removed from a bathtub partly filled with water, allowing the water to flow into the pipes below. The bathtub itself is new from a recent renovation, but the plumbing is at least fifty years older. The tiled space allows the sound to resonate.

The recoding is a rhythmic repetition of the kick drum (b) and the snare drum (pf) sounds in beatboxing. Recording was done by a Duke Student who is an amateur beatboxer in his room. Recorded on a Zoom H4N.
