Refreshing sound of a bottle of juice being shaken in the morning to start the day. The swishing sound made by the mixing of pulp and sweet orange juice is the best way to start off the morning. The swishing sound also reminds me of the raging waters that Diallo and many other slaves had to sail across.
In this recording you can here the UNCSA orchestra play the first movement of Carmina Burana. This piece is performed by orchestra, choir, and soloists. The recording only has the orchestra playing. Sound recording of the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra tuning before a performance in the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Recorded on an iPhone 6.
This sound is a recording of the piece Carmina Burana. This recording is of the orchestra at University of North Carolina School of the arts. At first you hear the musicians gathering and preparing to play. Then you hear the strong opening followed by the legato melody. Then, it picks up the pace with a quicker instrumental part as the the vocal parts come in. It has a dark feeling, and an extremely intense one. This carries on for a while as it slowly builds intensity. Suddenly, it is followed... Read More
My recording recording illustrates “Trio Sonata I in Eb Major”-Adagio Movement By: Johann Sebastian Bach. In this piece I am showing the practice method of chunking. Chunking is a method of slowly drilling one-two measures at a time. It is isolating portions of the piece, rather than repeating the piece as a whole. This method is most useful to use when you have trouble spots, or when you need a confidence booster with specific measures. It is a slow and tedious process, as is the method stated... Read More
This excerpt was recorded on Halloween at midnight during a Halloween organ music concert in a large chapel. An organ creates its sound through transporting large amounts of air through large cylindrical metal tubes that can be over thirty feet tall. The history of the pipe organ has been traced as far back as third century BC. The instrument became a significant part of church music. During prayers, often the churchgoers would sing while being accompanied by the organ. Although the space in... Read More

With this piece I am illustrating fragment practicing. This method is used to bring clarity to quick moments in music. The purpose of drilling this is for the musician to hear each individual thirty-second note in the measure. It helps with precision and helps you to perfect the skill of quick practice... Read More

Ostinato is a short phrase, chord or melody that repeats continuously through a section or whole piece of music. It is generally a simple and easy to remember pattern. The name comes from the Italian word for “obstinate” because of its repetitious nature. It has been a popular musical element for centuries. In the example from Paisiello’s overture to Il barbiere di Siviglia, listen to the lower sounding string instruments for two different ostinato patterns. The first pattern is a single... Read More
